Hello, weekend!

Goose at the Lynden Fair

Can I confess that I get a lot done during these pre-season games? It’s sort of like getting a babysitter for my husband. Also, we put the kids to bed before 7:30 tonight. Thank you, Lynden Fair. They were exhausted today.

We’re doing some catch-up this weekend, around our poor, neglected, semi-overgrown lawn and in the house. Oh, how I need to vacuum and clean the bathrooms.

The countdown until school starts in on and I’m hoping to have a fun couple of weeks with the kids, especially after two very busy weeks at work. Let’s just say there was a lot of extra screen time this past week. Good news… they survived.

Here’s what happened on bellingFAM this week:

  • We wrapped up the #bellingFAM July Photo Challenge on Instagram and announced the giveaway winner for the $20 gift card to Prinstagram. My favorite pictures of the month are still to come…
  • There was a little sneak peek of our week in Seattle. We had the best time… but we’re glad to be back in Bellingham, which certain feels like home now.
  • The most popular post of the week was when I shared 10 things I say to my kids at Trader Joe’s. Um, this went crazy and y’all were cracking me up at the things you say to your kids at Trader Joe’s. Maybe we should all go at the same time. That would be fun. (And make me feel a litle less crazy.)
  • A handful of summer book recommendations for the readers. I just started Goodnight June by Sarah Jio tonight. I’m already hooked.
  • I needed your help deciding which washi tape to use to hang some Instagram pictures on the wall in our office and right now, it’s a tie between the navy and finding something else. Spoiler alert: I hung them all up with the gold washi tape and it does, in fact, look like masking tape, like many of you predicted. Back to the drawing board!
  • On Facebook, we’re still just a couple of people away from 1300 Likers. The 1300th person, and the person who shared bellingFAM with them, gets a little something in the mail from me, so if you’re so inclined (and if you like getting mail!), go share it.

And, other things I wrote this week when I wasn’t here:

Thank you for spending time on bellingFAM!
xoxo.

Here comes the weekend

For the first time, in a long time, we don’t have any plans this weekend… and it feels nice. Not to say that we haven’t been having some really fantastic weekends lately with some really fantastic people, but I’ll admit that a schedule-free weekend is just what we all need. Also, did I hear that it’s suppose to rain? Don’t get my hopes up!

Some things that have been happening around bellingFAM…

  • The July Instagram challenge has been so fun and I’m amazed at the pictures each day. I can’t wait to share the ones I took this month and my favorites from each day. (But wow, a month is a long time! I even forgot to take one yesterday! Oops!) If you haven’t joined us, there’s still time…
  • We gave away one of these super cool Rio Beach Sun Block Umbrellas. It’s on our summer must-have list. (Hope you’re enjoying it, Jess!)
  • This vest caught my eye, even though it was 80 degrees outside at the time. And, it caught a lot of your eyes, too! I still have discount coupons, if you’d like one. They work on anything full-price at OnlineShoes.com. Please email me (bellingFAM@gmail.com) and I’ll send one over.
  • Anyone have kiddos at summer camp right now? Dr. Grow, one of our favorites from Seattle Children’s Hospital, shared some tips on how to prepare your child for summer camp. I’m tucking these away for Janie’s first camp!
  • And then, it was really hot out. We beat the heat with a mini-staycation in Bellingham at a local hotel. With a pool. And an in-room movie. It was glorious.
  • I can’t tell you how grateful I am that Bellingham School District provides school supplies. After this experience as a kindergarten mom in Seattle, nearly four years ago now, you’ll see why. It’s ruined my love of school supplies forever.
  • And, the highlight of my week… my second box from Stitch Fix arrived and I loved what they sent me.

And, some things coming up next week…

  • Today, I’m taking the girls to the American Girl Doll store to see the premiere of the new Isabelle movie. Needless to say, they’re excited. We’ll have a full review on Monday. Prepare yourself.
  • We’ll also have a giveaway for my absolutely favorite new local brand.
  • Back to the House on Fremont Street posts! I know I’ve been slacking on updating house stuff and I’m feeling guilty.
  • And, of course, we have to talk shoes. I have fall booties on the mind, since I’m the only person in the world that doesn’t have a pair yet.

What are you doing this weekend?

More summer, coming your way

Summer Ice Cream

Did you have a nice weekend? We sure did! (Meg obviously did!)

We had a quiet Friday night at home, spent Saturday running errands and hosting family into the wee hours, and checked off some Bellingham Bucket List fun on Sunday. Can you guess what we did from this picture on Instagram?

The kids start swim lessons this week, so our mornings will be busy, but I’m thankful for a pool where all three kids can take lessons at the SAME TIME. Nothing is worse than having three lessons back-to-back, or having a half-hour in between where none of them have lessons, but you don’t have long enough to leave the pool. Been there. Done that.

We’re also thinking about going raspberry picking this week and maybe heading to Hovander to visit the animals (and to stop at Sonic for lunch!). Plus, I promised Everett that we’d go to Boulevard Park to throw rocks in the ocean. Maybe squeeze in a craft (here is my “I think I’m crafty” kid craft/project/ideas Pinterest board), some baking and (eek!) some summer learning?

And, of course, 4th of July is on Friday. Do you have plans? I’m going to try to compile a list of local happenings to post tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned!

In the meantime…

Last week, on bellingFAM:

What did you do this weekend and what do you have planned this week?

A happy weekend to you, bellingFAM friends!

860// a throwback picture at one of our favorite seattle beaches with some of our favorite seattle friends, who we’re missing like crazy this week. what a perfect evening this was! //

Happy weekend, everyone! It’s suppose to be a bright and sunshiny one!

We don’t have much planned. I’m still on the mend from my surgery earlier in the week, but I’m hoping I can start to kick the pain meds and get back to normal life before Monday.

Here’s what happened on bellingFAM this week:

// We announced a giveaway winner for a copy of MOMSTROLOGY. But, the winner never responded by the deadline, so we picked a new winner! Check to see if it was you and be sure to check your email, too!

// I had surgery on Tuesday. Note: That’s not my mouth. In case you were wondering. That would be gross. (Thanks for all of the kind get well wishes! You are all too sweet!)

// News that Maya Angelou passed shocked the world this week. Here are some of my favorite quotes from this inspiring woman. It was hard to pick just a few. I posted them on my Pinterest account, too, in case you love pinning quotes like I do.

// My sweet and talented friend, Sarah Jio, debuted her sixth novel this week, GOODNIGHT JUNE, and we’re celebrating with a giveaway. It’s still open… come enter!

// This week’s Mom Style post was all about the must-have shoe of the summer… Birkenstocks! What do you think of these picks? The silver pair is in the lead, big time.

Enjoy your weekend!
Can’t wait to see you on Monday for a fresh week of new content,
including some posts from some great local guest bloggers!

xoxo.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day weekend

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all of you sweet moms! I hope you feel loved and appreciated this weekend…

I just came from the Mother’s Breakfast at Everett’s preschool and apparently I have a knack for farming. Nothing like seeing yourself through your 4-year-old’s eyes for a little self-reflection, right?

Here’s what happened on bellingFAM this week:

// We had a huge discussion on Facebook about the top 17 selling items at Trader Joe’s. I added some new to-buy items to my list for next week after hearing what you love to buy!

// Construction started at our house and, I’m grateful to say, that it’s almost done.

// My first Stitch Fix box arrived and I shared what I sent back and what I kept.

// And, after seeing how popular the review was, I added a giveaway for a $25 Stitch Fix gift card. It’s still going!

// Everett’s room was revealed, including his feature herringbone wall. Thanks for all of the positive feedback… I’m glad you think it’s as cool as we do!

(see you next week! come say hey on instagram over the weekend! xoxo.)

Weekend review: On bellingFAM this week

Happy weekend, friends!

Here’s what happened on bellingFAM this past week:

We hosted a giveaway for two Skip Hop Walk-Along Stroller Handles. Were you a winner?

I cleaned out my car and shared the random things that I found inside. But, then I asked my Facebook friends what the weirdest thing in their car was at the moment. The winner was my friend Sheena, who admitted that there was an open bottle of vodka somewhere in her trunk. We’ll leave it at that.

The Bellingham Bucket List grew a little longer with our visit to Kulshan Brewing Co.

In light of spring break next week, I revealed some of our favorite tourist-free, kid-friendly spots in Seattle.

On the bellingFAM Facebook page, we hit the 1000 Likes mark, which means we’re giving away two $20 gift certificates to Kulshan Brewing Co. The giveaway is open through the weekend!

I’m in Seattle visiting friends this weekend (yay!) and I shared some of my favorite shoes for a kid-free weekend getaway.

See you on Monday!
