I feel like I haven’t been flying through the books like I was over the summer… mainly because these three kept me pretty busy! If you’re looking for a book to read over Thanksgiving weekend, here are a few picks that are fresh off of my “just read” list.

Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt 
This was one of those books everyone recommended, but I was having a hard time getting into. And then, all of a sudden, I was hooked and found myself devouring every word. I spent a lot of time reading Tell the Wolves I’m Home because the story was so deep and layered that I could only consume a few pages at a time, literally. This isn’t a book to whip through. Pick it up for Thanksgiving weekend if you know you’ll have a lot of downtime to spend with it. And pie. You’ll need leftover pie. (If you’ve read it, do you want this to be a movie, or what?)

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
If you’re traveling over Thanksgiving weekend, this is the perfect book to add to your carry-on bag… because you totally have time  to read while you’re traveling with kids, right? Let’s pretend you do. While this book falls straight into the Young Adult genre, I’m pretty sure that 30- and 40-something women everywhere made it as popular as it is because it all about two high schoolers… in the ’80s. The pop culture references from that era are spot-on and the love story is off-beat, but relateable. You’ll fly through it… even while managing your kiddos at the airport. (Psst! The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes
While this book probably won’t make my favorites list for 2014, it’s a great book, with tons of family and celebrity drama to keep you entertained over Thanksgiving weekend… especially if you have a large family! I’ve read most of Marian Keyes’ books and love the tales of the Walsh sisters who live in Ireland. Looking for more, start with her first book in the “series”, Watermelon. You can easily jump around through these books, they’re a series, but you won’t be lost if you read them out of order.
